YLE has been busy filming material for the postcards to be featured in next years Eurovision Song Contest.

The chief for the Swedish department of the host broadcaster YLE, Kjell Ekholm, also a member of the EBU reference group said in an interview for the Swedish language daily Huvfudstadsbladet:

“The (postcards) are going to feature some quirkiness. We are trying to strike a balance between Wife carrying contests, Swamp soccer, sauna endurance competitions and everything else. The theme could be the four seasons”. (HBL 15.7.)

The film teams have been visiting several Finnish summer festivals, like the Swamp Soccer tournament in Hyrynsalmi. Finland has dozens of quirky festivals in the summertime.

Some members on the Finnish Eurovision board www.viisukuppila.fi have also reported to have seen YLE camera teams in for example in Helsinki Cup youth soccer tournament, where some kids had been painted in Lordi make up for the postcards.
